Our community is a collection of start-ups, social enterprises, art, innovation, professionals, coworking, retail shops, pop-ups, and dreamers. Established in 2017, the Cargo District is one of the fastest growing urban areas in the city of Wilmington. Our growth is due to our creative use of existing spaces, modern renovations, our groundbreaking container homes, and the integrated use of container offices. Live + Work Units
Living in the Cargo District is an exceptional experience. Presently we have Square 2 at The Cargo District, which is a nine-unit container home community, and we are open and occupied. Square 2 is without a doubt one of the most unique places to live in the City of Wilmington. Our container homes are mix of shipping containers and stick-built architecture, and they create a modern vibe that is not only aesthetically cool, but incredibly functional. Each unit is one bedroom, and approximately 620 sq feet. They feature heated concrete flooring downstairs, a custom built staircase, original container flooring and vinyl plank flooring upstairs, European-style custom cabinetry in the kitchen and bath, matte black plumbing fixtures throughout, custom built-in queen-sized bed, custom fabricated aluminum balcony, floor to ceiling tile in the shower, as well as a custom glass shower enclosure. Each unit is equipped with black stainless steel kitchen appliances, and the units come with a washer and dryer located in the walk-in closet. Not only did we think about livability with these units, we took design into consideration. While these spaces appear small, each unit is packed with form and function. This is container living and tiny home at its finest.
Square 2 is currently completely rented but we do have a waitlist for future tenants. We have plans for 2 bedroom units in the far future and will release news on those as it comes. Please no inquires on these at this time.
