Dani Natcher Talks About The Importance of Community and Local Businesses
Local businesses like Queen Street Barbershop and Bespoke Outpost are very important to us. Without our local businesses, The Cargo District wouldn’t be what it is today! Dani Natcher works hard to showcase our awesome local businesses on The Cargo District’s social media while supporting other local businesses throughout Wilmington, as well.
Dani obtained the role of The Cargo District’s Marketing Manager through, surprise, social media. Before Dani decided to move to Wilmington, she was working with a coworking station called the Impact Hub in Santa Barbara, California. She found The Cargo District through social media, and ended up messaging Jessica Pham, Community Manager, for opportunities to collaborate in this community. Dani explained, “I wanted to continue to work in an environment where there is networking, collaboration, and fun entrepreneurial spirits.”
Fortunately, The Cargo District’s environment accurately fit that description and we were happy to extend an offer to Dani as our Marketing Manager.
“The Cargo District’s goal with social media is to shoot it exactly how it is, because it really is that good.”
Since Dani runs The Cargo District’s social media, we decided to ask her how she would describe The Cargo District’s brand. She described it as, “modern and chic, but also revitalizing in the way that we up-cycle, recycle, and involve the community. The Cargo District is very Wilmington based, yet futuristic.”
After she explained The Cargo District’s brand, we found it appropriate to ask her how she showcases their brand through social media. Dani told us that, “The Cargo District’s goal with social media is to shoot it exactly how it is, because it really is that good.”
She explained that she loves taking photos and editing them, but she always wants to portray the scene how she saw it in person. She pointed out that, “When I see something beautiful, I want to edit that picture to look exactly how I saw it in person.” So, if you were wondering, The Cargo District is just as awesome on social media as it is in real life!
Dani’s favorite part about The Cargo District is that, “it involves community engagement and encourages people to think outside of the box.” It makes sense for Dani to be part of The Cargo District being that she is also the Community Manager for Yelp Wilmington.
“Being the Community Manager for Yelp is about finding people that are passionate about what they do and sharing their stories with the community.”
Some of the responsibilities Dani has as Community Manager of Yelp Wilmington is hosting and sponsoring community events, attending those events, promoting local businesses, creating graphics and event pages for businesses, and running social media. Yelp mainly focuses on local businesses, so if you wanted to know the best local places in Wilmington, Dani is your girl! Her first event here was a cupcake tasting at a Wilmington favorite, The Peppered Cupcake. That first event really set the stage for the amazing local businesses here in Wilmington and the passion behind their leadership.
“If someone’s excited about starting a cupcake shop they’ve dreamed of since they were three years old and I can do something to help them with that, then I absolutely will.”
