Why Have Just One Job?

Meg Ahrenberg’s Story on Being a “Go-Giver”

Here at the Cargo District we’re surrounded by unique, inspiring people everyday. As a result, our community has a lot of rad stories to share. We would like to introduce various members of The Cargo District over the next couple months to help set the scene for what it’s like to be a part of this co-collaborative space. First up, we have Meg Ahrenberg, a community member that is a part of SISDigital.

While interviewing Meg Ahrenberg, it was clear that she is nothing short of an inspiration.

Meg graduated from Radford University with a degree in communications and public relations along with a minor in marketing. She decided to go a step further and get her masters in interactive media at Quinnipiac University. Afterwards, Meg landed in Wilmington to spend some time working in the film industry.

A few years laters, she reached out to SISDigital for a position at their digital marketing agency.

“In the earlier stages of your career you need to just go for it”.

Fast forward to the present, and she has now been at SISDigital as the Manager of Digital Strategy and Paid Media for about two and a half years! Meg is also the Project Manager and Business Development Lead for SISDigital’s product, SkyNav, a 360º sky to ground immersive marketing tool.

Even with all this responsibility, she finds time to always have her makeup and outfit on point, along with a positive, bubbly attitude to complete her look (yes, she is the definition of a girl boss). While having these titles may be enough for some people, Meg’s passion does not stop there.

Meg Ahrenberg is also a visionary for the Butterfly Campaign and helped launch new markets of the company last fall, including North Carolina. The Butterfly Campaign is a group of inspiring women who provide other women with the tools to be successful in marketing and personal branding.

These women are fighting the pharmaceutical epidemic by way of nutraceuticals (a fortified food or dietary supplement that provides health benefits in addition to its basic nutritional value), and feeding starving children all over the world right from their home.

“If what I’m doing is impacting people, I’m going to want to wake up every day and do it”.

For Meg, the most rewarding part of working with The Butterfly Campaign is the fact that she can help women, like a single mom that doesn’t have a lot of time on her hands, grow their business in order to make a steady income in an honest way.  She uses her knowledge of marketing to help these women brand themselves, and understand how to use proven systems and strategies to run their own businesses with no experience necessary. She explained that, “If what I’m doing is impacting people, I’m going to want to wake up every day and do it”.

While Meg loves her job at SISDigital, she aspires to run her own marketing company someday, and continue to expand and launch new markets of The Butterfly Campaign all over the world.

When asked if Meg thinks she achieved all this as a result of her being a “go-getter”, she explained that she sees herself more as a “go-giver”. She is a naturally giving person, and has also acquired the asset of being an extremely driven person.

Meg makes sure her work matters. Her heart and her drive shows throughout the work she does and the way she lives. While speaking to her, it was obvious how gratifying it was for her to empower women through The Butterfly Campaign. When asked how Meg achieved all these titles she made it clear that, “In the earlier stages of your career you need to just go for it. You’re not going to get that opportunity again. It’s not going to come knocking twice, especially if you don’t take the first one”.

Meg worked extremely hard to get where she is today. She clearly embodies the “go” part in “go-giver”. While talking to Meg it was hard not to ogle over someone who is so motivated and passionate. She is an example of how successful someone can be if they go after what they want, while staying true to themselves and what they believe in. We should all strive to be a “go-giver” like Meg.

You’re not going to get that opportunity again. It’s not going to come knocking twice, especially if you don’t take the first one”.

As our community here at The Cargo District grows, we continue to attract members that have unique stories. No one at The Cargo District has the same goals visions, or passions, and that’s why this community is so awesome; because everyone is different. The one thing they all have in common is the fact that they want to be their best selves.

Meg is just one of the members of The Cargo District that is worth reading about, and we’re excited to show off more of our community over the next couple months!
